At Nightingale, the children decorated some cakes to sell at our MacMillan Coffee Morning. It was lovely to invite our parents in for coffee and cake. We raised £65 for MacMillan- thank you to everyone who made their generous donations.
The Toddlers at Imperial celebrated World Animal Day by taking part in lots of fun activities! They painted a big yellow giraffe, which they are going to use on a display. They also made their own animals masks and explored animal small world set ups, including a Zoo, Farm and animals of the sea.
At St Mary’s one of our favourite stories is ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson. Our little witches and wizards made their own special potion in the tuff tray. The children used water, glitter, sprinkles, flour and marshmallows to make a magical mix! The children enjoyed mixing all the ingredients together, spooning and pouring the potion and got excited as it turned green.
“Iggety, ziggety, ziggety, zoom!” – Room on the Broom
At Imperial, the Preschoolers have been spending time in Forest School making a nature collage! The children were challenged to take their wheelbarrows and look high and low for different materials. The children found feathers, flowers, bark and various leaves. We worked together to stick it all on to a canvas, creating our very own nature collage! We discussed the different textures and used language, such as ‘hard’ and ‘soft’. We had so much fun doing this project!
At Valeswood, the children focused on Recycling Week by completing a variety of activities, learning about the importance of recycling and the fun we can have using materials and items in and around our homes to be creative!
“I don’t think outside the box, I think of what I can do with the box!”– Unknown
At St Mary’s, we have been discussing the changes of season and what is happening to the trees and environment around us. The children have noticed the leaves on our garden trees are now turning brown, yellow and red. They told us there were lots of leaves on the ground too. In the afternoon, we collected lots of leaves in our wagons in the garden and used them to make our own hedgehogs!
At Imperial, we celebrated Harvest Festival by collecting food donations. We took some of the children from all rooms on a walk to our local Church to drop of our Harvest Festival donations. The children were amazed by the inside of the Church and spent time looking around at all of the lovely colours. The Vicar told the children about Harvest Festival and where our donations go.
A big thank you to our parents who donated food through out the week and another big thank you to the amazing Mummy that came to the Church with us and acted as lollypop lady!
At Valeswood, we planted seeds with the children in memory of Queen Elizabeth II. The children took their plant pots home to share with their families and friends!
“Giant leaps, often start with small steps”– Queen Elizabeth II
At St Mary’s, we were saddened to hear the news of the passing of Our Queen after a long historic reign. At Preschool we coloured in pictures of the Queen to take home and share with our families. We celebrated the life of Queen Elizabeth II by designing paper doll Queens. We used grey wool for her hair, cut out little crowns and we chose yellow tissue paper for her dress as it’s a lovely bright colour! We also set up a florist in our role play area to make lovely bouquets for the Queen!
At Imperial, we celebrated ‘Talk like a Pirate’ Day! The children had so much fun taking part in various activities- they made their own treasure maps, looked for buried treasure in sand, explored the Pirate ship in Forest School and baked yummy Pirate cookies!
At Blossom Years, we strive to provide children with opportunities to further their development and gain knowledge through activities which engage them and are suitable for their age group. As you can see from the photos, we encourage sensory play, construction play, using their imagination, Heuristic play and lots more!
Thank you to our amazing teachers who set up these activities for the children to have lots of fun!
As it has come to the end of term at Valeswood, we have been very busy! We had an amazing Graduation assembly to celebrate our school leavers taking their next steps to ‘big school’. We also had an end of term party for our children as we shut for Summer. There was bouncy castles, music and yummy food. The children had so much fun partying together and with their teachers!
