At Imperial, we found special fairy treasure in Forest School! The teachers told the children that the previous night, some fairies snuck into Forest School and left some treasure for us to find. The children made their own bags and headed off to collect their fairy treasure. They explored different materials and textures and used their senses to describe them and observe them.

The children also added some special fairy dust to their bags to make sure the fairy treasure stayed magical!

At Winlaton, we had a lovely Graduation ceremony to celebrate our school leavers heading off on their next adventure to big school! We had so much fun celebrating with our parents and ate yummy food, did face painting and had lots more fun!

Our Forest School leader at Imperial brought in some vegetables that she grew herself at home! Lea asked the children if they would like to prepare their own snacks, which the children were very happy to do! The children used their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to cut up the cucumbers and tomatoes, using the child-friendly knives.

The children enjoyed cutting up the vegetables independently and enjoyed eating them even better!

The Preschoolers at Imperial did lots of sensory play, which we did in our paddling pools in Forest School. We had one pool full of Orbeez, another with ice, one with water and shredded paper, another with fake snow, crackle and fizz bath salts and one just with water! The children had so much fun using their senses to explore the different textures and materials and engaged in play together.

At Blossom Years, we strive to encourage children to read and fall in love with books. Reading books enable children to build their understanding of humanity and the world around them, whilst also pushing them into using their imaginations as they are introduced to new worlds and adventures.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go”Dr. Seuss

To celebrate our Preschoolers transitioning to big school, we held a Graduation party at St Mary’s for all of our parents to attend to celebrate the children! We had a fabulous day full of fun, food and cuddles! It has been a pleasure watching our school leavers learn and flourish into the little superstars that they are! We want to wish them all the luck on their next adventure at big school!

To combat the hot weather, Imperial have been having lots of Splash Days to help keep the children cool, whilst having lots of fun! The children have been enjoying splashing their teachers and having water fights in the paddling pools!

We have plans to organise lots more Splash Days throughout the Summer!

At Imperial, we are aiming on becoming more Carbon Neutral for our planet. We are doing it step by step, starting in Forest School. It is very important to us that the children are involved in this and that they are gaining knowledge about looking after our planet.

In Forest School, the children have began making their own eco-bricks, which involve filling up plastic bottles with other plastic waste. You have to fill the bottle up so much so that it is solid, therefore making it into a brick, which we can then use in Forest School to construct something for the children. Our Forest School leader has also been teaching the children how to turn plastic bags into blankets and mats, which has been great to watch!

At Winlaton, the Babies and Toddlers enjoyed taking part in sand and water play! They explored the different textures of the beach and spend time experimenting with different tools and materials. It was lots of fun!

At Valeswood, we have been growing vegetables in our little garden. The children picked the pods and tasted the peas! We discussed the texture and the taste, using words such as; ‘Sweet’ and ‘Sour’. We then read a story about a family of vegetables, which the children thought was very funny!

At Imperial, the Baby Room set up a Vets role play for the babies to explore! The children loved playing with the soft animals, and using their motor skills to explore the vet tools, grasping them and playing with them. They also did some mark making using paint sticks to colour in pictures of animals. They practised making animal noises and had lots of giggles doing so!

Last week at Nightingale, we had pet week!We learnt how to care for different animals, where various animals come from and what animals are our favourite. One of our parents brought in their dog to meet the children, which they all loved! Also, one of our members of staff brought in her rabbits, which the children took great care of!
