At Valeswood, now that the sun is shining, the children have been enjoying spending time in our mud kitchen area, they have been busy making mud cakes, messy ice creams and worm biscuits! The children have been using their imaginations to role play with each other and create narratives. The mud kitchen has encouraged good sharing and turn taking.

At Winlaton, we have been focusing on ‘Healthy Living’ and how we keep healthy. We have enjoyed taking part in our weekly PE lesson and doing lots of exercise! We explored textures, colours and tastes when eating some of our favourite fruits and we even did some fruit printing using paint. The children enjoyed decorating their own fruit bowls and used their fine motor skills to mark make. What a fun week!

At Imperial, the Preschoolers have been enjoying the sunny weather by using the paddling pools. The children have loved being able to take a dip in the pool to cool off. They have been having swimming competitions and showing their teachers who does the best swimming! We have been doing lots of water play the last couple of weeks, including washing our toys in Forest School, using it in the mud kitchen and mark making on the fence.

At St Mary’s we have been very busy creating art work for the special men in our lives, making beautiful cards for Father’s Day! The children painted their hands and used their fine motor skills to write their own name in the card. The children sounded out each letter of from their name and used their name writing cards as support.

We hope that everyone had a lovely Father’s Day!

At Valeswood, we have been enjoying the good weather by going outside and taking part in lots of fun activities! We are currently loving mark making on the walls using paint brushes and water. The children have been using their motor skills to mark make- painting shapes, lines and doodles!

At Imperial, the Baby Room decided to take a trip down to Forest School! The children loved the new pirate ship and enjoyed spinning the wheel. Using their senses, the Babies explored the environment, touching the grass, bark and leaves and experimenting with different textures. They especially loved the swing and took turns going on it!

At Imperial, we decided to incorporate the Queen’s Jubilee into our Forest School session, by challenging the children to collect different natural materials and textures and use them to create a beautiful dress for the Queen! The children discussed the colour of the things that they found and spoke about what they felt like. The children had lots of fun and were excited to show their families.

At Valeswood, we had so much fun at our Jubilee Party, filled with laughter and yummy food! We all looked great in our crowns, which we made ourselves and we had souvenirs to take home!

At St Mary’s we were very busy during our Jubilee Celebrations; we made flags, copying the Union Jack, and making our own ones. We also had a tea party- we made our own sandwiches, practicing spreading butter and using cutting tools. We then made some red, white and blue playdough and made small squishy flags!

To celebrate the start of Summer, our Imperial setting hosted a ‘Family Fun Day’, inviting the parents to come and visit the nursery and have lots of fun! It was a great day, filled with laughter and sunshine! The children loved the bouncy castle and the ice cream van and toasting marshmallows in Forest School was a big hit with the parents! Imperial are very excited to have another ‘Family Fun Day’ and hopefully turn it into a yearly celebration!

A big thank you to all of our amazing parents that came along and made the day extra special!

At Valeswood, we explored play-dough, using body parts and play-dough tools to make ourselves! Whilst doing this activity, we learnt that everyone has differences and similarities and that is what makes us all unique and special. The children enjoyed taking part in this activity, finding it funny when they were adding the body parts to the play-dough.

At St Mary’s, we have been celebrating World Bee Day 2022 by making finger print paintings. We also painted paper plates, and turned them into buzzy bees, using paint, googly eyes and tissue paper. We enjoyed making yellow and black play-dough, exploring and experimenting moulding it into different shapes!

Fun Fact: The honey bee is the only insect that produces food eaten by humans!
