At Winlaton, the children made the most of the lovely weather this week after the Easter break. We have done water play, took part in a maths activity, using the language of size and we also had our weekly P.E session!
We had a fun packed week at Imperial to celebrate Easter! Every room had an Easter egg hunt, which the children had lots of fun doing and was very excited to find yummy treats. We also had an Easter party at the end of the week, the Babies and Toddlers taking part in a music and movement session and the Preschoolers playing party games!
Happy Easter!
At Winlaton, the children in Blossoming 1 have been getting ready for Easter! We used cotton buds and different coloured paints to create patterns when making our very own Easter eggs! We spoke about the colours we used and also looked at the changes that happen when mixing two different colours together.
At Valeswood, we held an Easter bonnet competition, where the children were challenged to make a lovely Easter bonnet at home and bring it into nursery. We had some amazing creations and so much effort was put in to them!
We also had an Easter egg hunt, which the children loved and got to take home yummy treats!
At Imperial, the Preschoolers took part in a bug hunt at Forest School. The children have recently been loving our bug books, but today decided to use them to help them go on a bug hunt! We also got out our bug toys to play with and discuss them. What a fun Forest School session!
At Nightingale, we have been busy making lots of lovely things- playdough chicks, Easter cards, eggs and nest cakes. We also had an Easter egg hunt in the garden, which the children really enjoyed, especially finding their chocolate egg at the end!
The children got busy at home and made their own Easter bonnets that they showed off in our Easter bonnet parade, which we followed with a cake sale! It was so lovely to have lots of our parents in to help with the Easter egg hunt and to watch the Easter bonnet parade.
At Imperial, we have hatched some chicks! Last Monday, we had 10 eggs dropped off to keep in an incubator, the children kept close watch on them incase any of them started to crack! By Wednesday morning, 4 chicks had hatched and then by lunch time, we had 2 more! When the children got to nursery on Thursday morning, all 10 chicks had hatched and we got to see how little they were. Once we moved the chicks out of the incubator and into their box, the children got to stroke and hold them. The children have been amazing and have taken such good care of the chicks!
At Valeswood, we made gifts for one of the strong women in our lives to celebrate Mother’s Day! We painted our hands and made a handprint on a tile, ready to gift to our loved ones.
We hope that all of our amazing Mummies, Nannies, Aunties and Carers had a lovely Mother’s Day full of love!
At Winlaton, we celebrated Holi Festival by making their own tie-dye tops! The children got to choose what colours they wanted to use and poured it onto the tops themselves.
What is Holi Festival?
Holi is a popular ancient Hindu Festival, also known as the Festival of Spring, the Festival of Colours or the Festival of Love. Holi is a time of fun. It’s a colourful festival, with dancing, singing and throwing of powder paint and coloured water.
The Preschoolers at Imperial took part in exploration play, spending time simply experimenting and playing with boxes. The children used the boxes to be creative and make models and some used them to role play, pretending that they were cars, boats and skateboards! It was lots of fun and the children had the best time!
At St Marys, we are taking care of 10 caterpillars. The children are enjoying watching them grow daily, talking about metamorphosis and the changes that are happening everyday. The children are very excited to see them turn into cocoons and finally become butterflies!
“The Very Hungry Caterpillar story is about hope. You, like the little caterpillar, will grow up, unfold your wings and fly off into the future.”– Eric Carle
It was very exciting at our Imperial setting today when some horses came to visit us in Forest School! The children fed the horses some grass and even got to stroke them. What a good way to build confidence in our everyday environment!
