Our African snails, Shelly and Marshell have grown lots! The children have been enjoying holding and petting them and feeding them lettuce! By having Shelly and Marshell at St Marys, it has enabled the children to learn about the importance of taking care of living creatures and why we should take care of our environment.

Fun fact about African snails- They can stay awake for 30 hours!

We had a lovely morning at Nightingale, raising money for MacMillan Cancer Trust and hosting a coffee morning. Some of our parents came along and donated some yummy cakes and helped us eat them! The children really enjoyed showing their parents around their Preschool and pointing out their amazing work!

Thank you for helping us raise money for a good cause!

The children at Valeswood enjoyed taking part in role play, dressing up as doctors and nurses and using their imagination to take care of the babies and the teachers. The children used props to support their play and created narratives based on their first hand experiences.

Whilst taking care of the babies, the children kept singing ‘Miss Polly had a dolly’ as they did check ups and bandaged the babies.

Our amazing forest school leader has made a pond in our fairy garden. The children have been exploring the fairies, gnomes and frogs living around the pond!

The children at Imperial have been learning why frogs live near ponds and the life cycle of a frog. They have been able to handle real frogs that we have seen at forest school and have shown great care and concern for them.

We have had butterflies at Winlaton! The children loved learning about the life cycle of a butterfly and were all very excited to watch them come out of their cocoons and feed on apples and oranges that the children put out for them.

The children made their own colourful butterflies and made them fly!

“Massive thanks to Louis’ nursery, Blossom Years, for making such an incredible effort to give them all a graduation party. It was so adorable seeing them all in their hats and t-shirts they made. Hand on heart, I actually got very emotional. Witnessing a team of people who clearly love what they do, care for each and every one of the kids, is beautiful to watch. And as a parent, knowing you’re child is being looked after, nurtured and encouraged to be the best person they can be is all we can ask for.” – Hayley Burtt

This was an amazing review that our Imperial setting received from a parent on Instagram. Please follow our instagram @blossomyears to see content from all of our settings!

To celebrate our big children setting off on their next adventure, we had a special graduation ceremony and invited our Mummies and Daddies! We decorated our own t-shirts and wore special graduation hats!

Thank you to our parents for all of the amazing feedback, the staff at Imperial are going to miss all of the children lots!

Ted the rabbit visits Nightingale!

As part of pet week, one of the teachers brought her rabbit, Ted, in to nursery. The children learnt what rabbits eat and where they come from. The children drew pictures of Ted after having a busy day of taking care of him! During our pet week, we also had visits from a tortoise, a Great Dane and some other little furry creatures!

At Winlaton, the children have been doing lots of outside exploration with their teachers. The children used their gross motor skills to plant flowers and seeds, we are excited to watch them grow!

We have also been practising our football skills and learning how to balance on stilts, in preparation for our upcoming Sports Day!

Imperial had a special visitor… say hello to Thor the Tortoise!

One of the teachers brought in her pet tortoise for the children to look after for the day. The children learnt what tortoises like to eat, where they live and the differences between tortoises and turtles. The children got to hold Thor and described the texture of his shell, even making their own shells to wear home!

The children at Valeswood spent time chalking in the playground, using their imaginations and creating a story about aliens landing their spaceship near a pond. The children drew sharks, jellyfish, starfish and an octopus!

“The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge, but imagination!” – Albert Einstein

Our Forest School at Imperial offers the children an opportunity to build resilience, explore the world around them and experiment with their physical skills. The children love spending time in Forest School and it is one of their favourite parts of the day!
