HAPPY HALLOWEEN! This year we focused on growing our very own Pumpkins in our Forest School area and here they are!!! We are very impressed and we are doing lots of spooky activities.

The dinosaurs learnt their numbers today at Preschool. The children helped them get into the correct number groups. The dinosaurs also played beanbag throwing into number baskets with the children.

Some of the children from pre-school went on a story book trail through the woods. They each had their own clipboard and pencils to tick when they had noticed a special story book character. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring in the woodlands. We also met a lady with her two children who kindly tweeted about our trip!

Nightingale coffee morning for MacMillan. We had a lovely morning playing with our parents at preschool during our coffee morning. We also enjoyed eating all the yummy cakes that were donated too ! We raised just over £70.00 !! Thank you to all our parents for supporting us this morning.

We celebrated World Space week, with a variety of activities, the children especially enjoyed trying the food the astronauts eat on their
journey in space !

The children looked at book about planets and talked about Earth, they named the colours of earth as it is visible from space.  We made blue and green playdough then rolled play dough into balls using gross motor skills. Then to make the land masses the children had to use very careful fine motor skills to complete their planet earths.

“The children at St Mary’s have been participating in Healthy eating week, We have been talking about food that is healthy and Unhealthy , we have made some delicious Rainbow salads to take home”

We spent a long time making a beanstalk to go alongside our story. We used a really large tube and shredded paper, which we glued all over the tube. Then we got creative and used lots of different colour greens to make the stalk and stuck it over the paper mache. Children then decorated individual leaves and stuck them onto the stalk.  We had great fun doing this and seeing how tall it was!!

” We had a visit from a Police Officer who spoke to us about how we keep ourselves safe , he brought us some real uniform to try on and we had lots of fun role playing being a Police Officer”
