At Imperial, the Babies, Toddlers and Preschoolers have been loving having the paddling pools out in the sunshine! The children have been having so much fun splashing around in the water and have been having water fights!

The children at Valeswood spent the day celebrating World Music Day by making their own hand drums, singing songs throughout the day and painting a big guitar! The children used their fine motor skills to use paint to finger paint, they also used their creativity to make their hand drums look beautiful!

Our Preschoolers at Imperial celebrated them starting their next adventure and heading off to big school. We invited the parents to join us at the Graduation party and have lots of fun. The children looked amazing in their leavers tops, grad caps and they sang a song for all the parents. The children enjoyed getting ice cream at the end to celebrate their achievements!

We just want to say a big thank you to our parents for coming to the party and for joining in with the fun!

At Imperial, we took our wellies down to Forest School to give them a clean ready for Autumn! The children used sponges, soap and water to make them shiny! The children spent time pairing them up and talking about colours and shapes that they could see on the footwear. They did great and had lots of fun playing with the water!

Now that it is Summer, at Valeswood we have been enjoying water play outside in the sun! The children used their fine motor skills to pour and empty using bowls, jugs, spoons and funnels. The children made up their own ‘Splash Splash’ song and have been singing it whilst exploring the water!

The Preschoolers at Imperial took part in a science experiment this week, focusing on the question- ‘Will it sink or float?’.

The children were encouraged to talk about their opinions and ideas, saying if they think an object would sink or float. After sharing their opinions, they tested out the theory, dropping the objects into water and seeing if they sunk or floated. They also took turns making marks to represent numbers on a tally chart, counting how many children said ‘sink’ and how many said ‘float’.

At Valeswood, we took part in sensory play, exploring shaving foam and having lots of fun! The children used their senses to explore the texture- talking about what it feels like and what it smells like. A child said “We can’t eat it!”.

Sensory play offers many benefits for a child’s development- supporting brain development, enhancing memory, promote exploration and creativity and problem solving.

At Imperial, the children were provided with paint, paper and a question- ‘What can you use to paint in Forest School?’.

The children instantly started to search for different natural materials that they could find to mark make with. We collected sticks, feathers, bark and leaves. The children dipped them in paint and made marks on their paper, creating beautiful pieces of artwork!

At Nightingale, we had pet week! We learnt how to look after different animals we keep as pets. We had a hamster and dog come to visit the children, they enjoyed stroking them and taking the lovely dog for a walk around our garden. The children showed care, kindness and responsibility as they looked after the very special visitors!

At Imperial, some of the Preschoolers and Babies went out on a trip! We went on a trip to the woods to go on a bear hunt. The children quoted parts of the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ and got very excited when we finally found the wooden bears behind the trees! We named the bears and spent time sitting with them.

At Blossom Years, we celebrate diversity and inclusion, and integrate British Values into our curriculum. At Valeswood, we had our own Eurovision Song Contest! The children shared songs in Polish, Hungarian, Ukrainian, English and many more! They were all winners and were amazing!

At Imperial, the Preschoolers did some planting in the Forest School. The children helped to dig, plant, pat and water the plants! We spoke about different colours that we could see, what the flowers smelt like and even tried some of our home-grown cabbage!
