At Nightingale, we celebrated Halloween in our spooky home corner, encouraging the children to use their imaginations and explore the props in the home corner. We also made potions in the mud kitchen, using our motor skills to pour and mix our spooky ingredients!

At Valeswood, to celebrate Black History Month, we used a variety of skin tone paints, exploring them by splashing them and mixing them together! We made a lovely display and even had an ‘Express Yourself Day’ where the children wore clothes to express their individuality e.g. their favourite colours, interests, characters. We had so much fun!

Everyone at Imperial had lots of fun celebrating Halloween! We got into the Halloween spirit and dressed up. The children loved showing off their costumes and telling each other who they were and even did some music and movement! We also had artwork to take home with us and share with our loved ones.

At Imperial, the Toddlers and Babies went to Forest School and took part in a Pumpkin Hunt! The children searched high and low, looking for the cheeky pumpkins! After our Pumpkin Hunt, they joined in a Halloween game- put the spiders on the web, which they played blindfolded!
What a fun start to Halloween week!
The Babies and Toddlers at Winlaton joined in with Sensory play recently. They explored different textures, sounds and played on the large soft play blocks. We also listened to some music whilst we played.
At Imperial, some of the Preschoolers celebrated Diwali by decorating some glass jars using sparkly sequin stickers. We added tea lights to them and lit them up, making the jars shine beautifully! We spoke about the meaning of Diwali and why we celebrate it!
At St Mary’s, the children haven been learning about the Festival of Diwali. We watched a short clip about Diwali for children and learned that it is a Festival of light and colour. We used some shiny CD’s and decorated them with glitter, before adding our candle to take home for our families to light and show us. Happy Diwali!
At Winlaton, the children have been getting very creative! They used colourful paints to create beautiful masterpieces! They also experimented with different materials, such as, pastels and chalk. This was a brilliant team effort- sharing ideas and resources.
At St Mary’s, one of our favourite stories is called ‘Eat Your Peas’. We decided to make our own peas using polystyrene balls, paint and cotton wool balls. We spoke about our favourite foods and making healthy food choices!
At Imperial in Forest School, it’s beginning to look a lot like Autumn as we are taking part in lots of autumnal themed activities. As we discuss with the children how the season is changing and what happens to the environment around us. The children used their fine motor skills to thread conkers and leaves onto wire to create beautiful autumn hanging decorations for our outside area!
At St Mary’s we had a coffee morning to raise money for MacMillan. Our parents were very kind and donated/ made lots of lovely cakes and biscuits. The children also decorated some cakes to take home. So far, we have raised £52- a massive thank you to all of our parents and children!
At Valeswood, we celebrated World Animal Day all week, as there are so many animals for us to talk about and learn about!We have had lots of fun taking part in a variety of activities, including the animal puppet show, making pom pom animals and wearing masks to become our favourite animals!
