What makes a great Nursery practitioner ?

One of our nurses summed it up nicely…“I’m a Nursery Nurse and have been so for many years so I can give you a really good idea. You have to really like children and have a lot of energy because they can tire you out. You need to be a team player and cooperate with the people you work with. Communication skills are key as you need to talk to parents, children, staff and other professionals. The ability to learn new things quickly helps. Being creative is important, by this I don’t mean being good at art (which can help) but being able to come up with activities to challenge and develop the children you are working with. A good understanding of child development is an ongoing learning process. Being patient is really important as well and staying in complete control when under pressure.”
