Blossom Years Children's Nurseries & Pre-Schools

Ultimately, learning happens best when a child is relaxed, confident and having fun. That is exactly the environment we strive to provide.
Our day nurseries, pre-schools and Montessori are located across Bromley, Chislehurst, and Downham.

Why us?

We nurture children from 6 months to 5 years to develop their confidence, social skills and enthusiasm for learning to prepare them for primary school.

Small is beautiful... All our settings have relatively small numbers of children so we can focus on quality, not quantity!

When it comes to childcare we’re as choosey as you are. Parents often tell us that the quality of staff is the most important factor when choosing day care or pre-school services. We promote a culture where we see ourselves as educators, and recognise how we are making a difference to your child’s development.

Your child's time here at Blossom Years shouldn’t be a distant experience for you. You can chat with your child's key worker and setting manager and we encourage and suggest easy ways that you can partner with us on developing the results of their day.

Although it’s not the ultimate factor when choosing a nursery it is important to be aware of gradings. All of our settings have Good or Outstanding OFSTED ratings – something we are very proud of.

Our curriculum is as follows...

The Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe.

It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

At our Montessori Pre-school we are big believers in the philosophies of child learning first developed by Maria Montessori at the turn of the last century. Montessori was one of the most important early years educators of the 20th century, the innovator of classroom practices and ideas which have had a profound influence on the education of young children the world over. We integrate many of the methods developed in this philosophy with the EYFS framework.

Reception Ready

Reception Ready is our very own exclusive programme devised by our friend and super talented primary school teacher that helps prepare your child for their school experience by teaching them secure early skills in all seven areas of learning.

The objective of the programme is that by the end of it, all children will have developed the following skills which will ensure that they are ready for reception:

  • Good social skills
  • Some independence in their personal care
  • Confidence and willingness to ‘have a go’ at something new
  • Are curious about the world around them
  • Have developed secure early skills in Literacy, Mathematics, Science and Technology

Our Montessori pre-school in Chislehurst

Montessori saw that children learn best by doing and that happy self-motivated learners form positive images of themselves as confident, successful people. She created specially designed resources to foster independence and a love for learning from an early age. The Montessori approach is holistic and aims to develop the whole child. Fundamental to the approach is the belief that a child's early years from birth to six are the period when they have the greatest capacity to learn and absorb from their environment.

  • The Montessori classroom is an environment that is a prepared environment by the teacher to encourage independence and freedom within limits and to give a sense of order.
  • The teachers within the environment will observe and follow the child through their development.
  • The Montessori materials are real objects rather than imitation playthings.
  • Children are encouraged to become independent but to show self discipline.
  • Freedom within a structured environment...the child is allowed to move around freely talking to other children and working with the equipment which s/he chosen after demonstration of its use by the teacher. However, s/he is not allowed to abuse the equipment or disturb other children, thereby limiting their freedom to work.
  • Concentration...children are encouraged to concentrate by being introduced to materials at the right developmental level for them, and to complete each activity.
  • Beauty... the environment should be aesthetically pleasing, simple and clean.
